Hi Sarah,
Welcome to the forum, glad you've joined us.
If you feel you would like to share a bit more about yourself and your arthritis journey so far please do feel able to do so - it can help get to know each other on here and meet people with similar situations to your own.
Here's a link to the section on Rheumatoid Arthritis on the Versus Arthritis website:
Here on the forum you can search on subject matter/keywords using the search box (on the left hand side above the yellow "New Discussion" box) - this can be great for looking through past conversations on a topic.
Hope you'll find the forum and enjoyable and useful place to be.
Best wishes,

Hello, I'm Daisy, I was 43 some time ago and have psoriatic plus osteoarthritis. I inject methotrexate weekly and humira fortnightly and have done for years. I remember my consultant telling me when I began humira I would lose the crutches and be able to throw away the pain relief: I think she confused me with another patient! 😂
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi Sarah
I’m 44 and also just been diagnosed with rheumatoid although think I’ve had the symptoms possibly for 5 years now. Unfortunately it’s been difficult to get a diagnosis as symptoms came and went. I’ve just been on methotrexate for a couple of months. How are you finding it are you newly diagnosed too? I’ve only seen consultant once for diagnosis after tests and the Rheumie nurse, I was meant to have a follow up at end of April but that’s been cancelled so feel a bit on my own but can’t be helped and there’s bigger issues. Have you been asked to shield ? Finding this difficult but hope it’s not for long
Best wishes

Whilst it is true that we are more prone to infections while taking the meds that doesn't mean we have to keep falling ill. I remember being on the receiving end of a long and rather brutal lecture from a very experienced rheumatology nurse about increasing my hand hygeine, that of those around me and to regularly wipe down surfaces after sneezing or coughing. Tiresome? Yes. Essential? Definitely. DD
