Hello, it is miserable, isn't it? I have OA in numerous joints including my knees, both have been hurting constantly since 2003 so I am used to it but even so there are times when the challenge is too much. One of the 'better' bits of OA is I know when it will be aggravated so I can plan for it: rest more with my legs up (and supported under my knees) and do less in terms of chores and exercise. Yup, exercise, I know that seems counter-intuitive but it is important to keep the leg muscles strong and flexible so they better support our hurty joints. It is also good for the whole body and our mental health.

Day-to-day I take minimum pain relief - any pain relief merely dulls rather than remove - and I distract my brain with reading, TV, doing puzzles of all kinds, card making and keeping in touch with friends. DD

Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Hello Missy and Dreamdaisy, I have OA both knees for 10 years. I totally agree with you Ddaisy, I do all these things to distract my brain from the sometimes intolerable pain. Pre-covid I managed swimming twice a week, great weight bearing exercise, enjoyment and relief. Doctor prescribes me breakthrough Severadol ( morphine) along with ibrufen, gabapentin, zomorph and the latest, amitriptyline plus I have the massage rub. All of which only dull the pain. It feels great to be among those who know pain and dont just dismiss it. Take care.
