What hearing aids are available for people with rheumatoid arthritis?

Hello,
My mother-in-law, who's in her 80's and has had rheumatoid arthritis for over 40 years, now needs to wear hearing aids. Her shoulders are fused and she has reduced mobility in her hands so she finds it difficult to put the "traditional" hearing aids in as they are too fiddly. She lives alone.
I've asked at the hospital if there are any other options but apparently there aren't.
Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations? She feels as though she's "losing it" as she can't remember things but I think it's related to her hearing and that's she's not hearing things in the first place.
Many thanks!
