COVID vaccine

I have RA and am taking methotrexate and hydroxychloraquine If a vaccine works on the premise that it tells the immune system to make COVID antibodies then how can it work on someone whose immune system is strongly controlled and suppressed?

Thank you. I have tried asking the question of my GP but can’t get passed the receptionist when I tell her what I am calling for.

Getting past the receptionist can be excruciating at times, don't know what the trick is. On one occasion I turned up at the door before they opened so that I could not be ignored, I was seen by a GP immediately!

@Stephd is it worth asking for a telephone consultation and saying it's a worry about your medication and side effects not being too specific???
