Collagen - to try or not to try?
![Whiskey26](https://us.v-cdn.net/6031919/uploads/userpics/BBR0F15UUGNE/n6N271FF5SNI3.jpg)
I have severe osteoarthritis in my right hip and currently manage my pain with a paracetamol/ibuprofen combination. Stronger painkillers didnt seem to work. I also take calcium and flaxseed oil supplements, which are supposed to be good for joints/bones. I have recently heard that collagen helps with aches and pains and I wondered if anyone knows if this is true? I don't want to waste my money.

Hi Whiskey26
Thanks for you post to the Helpline. When you are interested in improving your self-management, the strongest evidence is for physiotherapy (and keeping moving through the day) as well as healthy eating to keep your weight down.
Supplements have fairly limited benefits compared to diet and exercise, but for more see
