More Painful Hands!

Hi,

My name is John and I have osteoarthritis in my left hand, at the base of the thumb and across the knuckles in on spot. I'm a 53 year old Painter & Decorator and this came on just over two years ago.I've seen specialists, worn splints, had a steroid injection all to no avail.

My question is in the last few weeks it's got so much more painful, almost overnight. I play the guitar on and off and the day after on half an hour session the pain was intense and hasn't let up since. I'm also a Type1 diabetic so this may be a link as to why I got it in the first place but I am wondering if it has anything to do with having the Astrazenica vaccine a few days before the added pain. Has anyone else experienced more pain since having a vaccine?

I can see from your post that you have been living with OA for a long time and you are querying if the additional pain you are having recently could be to do with the COVID vaccine you have recently had. Firstly, everyone reacts to vaccines in different ways, if you are worried it has adversely affected you then speak to your GP or Rheumatologist, but in the meantime below is the link to the latest advice on COVID vaccines.
