Is there any evidence or any reported hair loss since recovering from covid for RA patients
I have had RA for many years and I am on Sulfasalazine for 2 and a half years , I had covid in January for 2 weeks lost smell and taste , had two pfizer vaccinations feb and April and for the last 2 months I have noticed hair loss but most significantly the last 3 weeks ,been to my GP for thyroid tests all ok , is their any information that has come to light that it could be connected to RA as a long covid sympton?.

Hi @Scarlet firstly let me welcome you to the forum I hope you find the information and support you are after from our wonderful community.
I can see from your post that you have been suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis for many years but you are looking for any information on a link between COVID and hair loss.
Please see below our latest information on everything COVID and vaccines. If you are concerned this may have caused your hair loss I would advise you speak to your GP or specialist.
I also enclose information on Sulfasalazine which may help to understand if there are any links, as I know some other medications do have links to hair loss.
Please feel free to search the forum for others with similar experiences and I am sure that some of our community will be able to help.
Take care and I hope you get some answers soon.
Thanks
Joe

Hi Scarlets
Thank you for posting on the forum. Following your Pfizer vaccinations you have noticed hair loss, and your GP has tested for thyroid and all tests are ok.
I have seen the links that Joe has given you with our information around vaccinations and covid which I hope has been useful for you.
You might like to take a look at the OCTAVE trial which is a new UK study to help understand the immune response to covid vaccinations in patients with certain immunosuppressed conditions.
You may also find the information from the NHS long term effects of coronavirus of interest.
If at any point you would like to talk to us on our freephone helpline: 0800 5200 520 (weekdays 9am – 8pm) you are very welcome to call, here we can take our time to talk informally and in confidence.
Best wishes
