Hello everyone! Trapeziectomy booked...any advice?!
I'm a bit squeamish so please go easy on me as a newbie... 😬 but I'm having a trapeziectomy in a few days' time (left, non-dominant hand) I've never had surgery before so really don't have a clue as to what to expect. Any advice out there?
Thanks in advance,
Raedigger
And you, what will you do with your one wild and precious life?

Hello @Raedigger, welcome to the Online Community! It's lovely to have you here.
I see that you have a trapeziectomy coming up and are hoping for advice, given you haven't undergone surgery before. You've found the right place to ask - there are plenty of members of this forum who have experienced this and will be happy to share.
For now, I hope you will find this information from Versus Arthritis of some help or comfort:
Wishing you best of luck with your operation and a speedy recovery. Please do keep us updated and continue to enjoy being part of the Online Community.

One operation I've not had😉 but, from many years on here, reading from others who have had it, I'd simply say Don't Try to Rush the Recovery. It doesn't work. Do all the physio tells you to and don't push your luck. Yes, it's a small incision but things still need time to heal. Do that and I don't think I'll need to wish you luck as you won't be dependent on that😁
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks, I’ve had my pre-op and am ready (or not) for my op on Monday. I’ve been told to expect to be off work for at least 8 weeks.
I’m usually a very active person- if anyone has advice on things to do (I’ve got some novels and jigsaws ready) please share whatever works for you!
