Facet joint pain

in Living with arthritis

Anyone else suffer with their Facet joint in their lower back ?

What are your symptoms please.

Apparently the pain I'm getting in my buttock is refered pain from this joint .But Im not conviced.

    I have Degenerative Facet Joint Disease in addition to my OA and disc issues which I presume is a bit different to what your GP says that you have, in my case the cartilage over the facet joints has gone throughout my spine causing them to grate on each other causing pain. There is also an issue where the nerves passing through the facet joint can be trapped which may be what you have, pain can be amplified by leaning backwards or twisting and it can spread to the buttocks and down the back of the leg. Diagnosis is confirmed by MRI scans as they are both soft tissue problems.
