Living with MS & arthritis
Hello I have just joined the group as I am trying to cope with living with MS & arthritis. I am 77 years old & have MS which affects my right side. As a result of that I had a left hip replacement 22 years ago which is holding up well. I have now been diagnosed with severe arthritis of my right hip which is becoming very painful & stiff. Because of my MS I have muscle wastage an that side & find it really difficult to do exercises to help. I am hoping to get advice from this community about how to cope with the pain ZB& how to keep mobile. I already use a stick because of my MS as I have problems with my balance & have had a number of heavy falls.

Hello @TheGyles welcome to the Online Community.
I understand you have a recent diagnosis of severe arthritis in your left hip and due to MS have very weak muscles and so find it hard to exercise.
We have some great information on coping with pain on our website that is really helpful and includes a video showing some gentle stretching exercises that you might like to try:
Do ensure that you have something to hold on to as some of the exercises mean lifting one foot off the floor.
There are also further exercises to help with mobility which include diagrams:
Here also is a final link on Exercises for healthy joints | Back, neck, knee and foot exercises. Selecting a mix of these will help general mobility and many can be done sitting or lying down.
Do join in across the Community, ask questions and call in to say how you are getting on. You will be most welcome.
All best wishes
Brynmor
