Preparing for knee surgery
Hi, i’ve been given a date for a TKR at the end of January. I’m in a total panic now and i’m not sure how to get through the next few weeks.
Any ideas about exercise before the op and also how to prepare mentally? I know I am lucky to be offered this but i’m terrified.
Regards Pauline

Hello Pauline
Don't panic, just breathe! Take it slowly, work out a plan , a step at a time.
Are you a lists lady ?
I think I had 3 lists going before my hip op,
one for Me ,
one for the pre hospital bag and documents,
one for the household - things that Must be done beforehand, things that could Wait.
Sometimes even just the exercise of writing stuff done helps clear the panicky thoughts.
There are numbers of our members who have had TKRs and who have shared their experiences with us on the community. I see that you have already found the conversations under the knee replacement tag. Meanwhile I attach a link with some questions and answers for your information.
I will be thinking of you at the end of January do join in with the community before then and also let us know how you get on post operation.
Take Care
Poppyjane
