Arthritis in both knees.
Hi there,
I am new to the group. I have had arthritic knees for quite some time now. The pain is really unbearable and affecting my daily life. I am not as able to move about as much. I work with children under 5 years of age. I am looking for recommendations of painkillers to ease my constant pain. I am considering going back to my GP to see if he can give me some medication that will help me .

Hi @lesleywrigley Welcome to the group.
I see you have Arthritis in both knees and work with young children. I imagine that means a lot of kneeling and bending so can see why you are struggling.
I am going to attach two links for you one is about Osteoarthritis of the knee (I am presuming it is OA you have):
The other is about Painkillers and non-steroidal anti inflammatory medications which might equip you for your conversation with your GP:
Best wishes

Thank you for posting on the forum, I’m sorry to hear that you have arthritic knees which are causing you unbearable pain, it’s so hard when the pain affects our daily lives. It sounds as if you have your hands full and it can’t be easy working with children under 5 years old.
You are very welcome to call us on our helpline 0800 5200 520 weekdays 9am-6pm, sometimes sharing how we feel can be helpful, here we can take our time to talk informally and in confidence.
I can see Ellen has given you a couple of links that I hope will be helpful for you.
I am giving you a further link to a cream called capsaicin, it's a drug-free, effective, and very well tolerated painkiller and is on prescription, so you might like to give this a try. Going back to the GP sounds like a good idea so that he/she can advise further with regards to pain medication. You could also ask the GP for a referral to physiotherapy, as keeping moving is very important, and they would be able to offer a tailor-made exercise plan for the joints in need.
Best wishes
