  • Hi Carolannf,

Thank you for posting on the Helpline forum asking for advice. I am sorry to hear you have osteoarthritis (OA) in your joints, spondylitis in your spine and other health issues. I’m wondering if you have spondylitis or spondylosis? It may be worth clarifying this with your doctor. It sounds as if you have been going through a rough time. I am glad to hear you have been offered steroid injections for your knee and shoulder.

It would be good to talk things through further with your GP about your ankle pain. Supportive footwear is important, insoles may help too. You could ask your GP about referral to physiotherapy and podiatry. Capsaicin cream on prescription may be worth a try. Your GP may suggest referral to a specialist. A healthy balanced diet and maintaining a healthy weight will help to put less strain on your joints.

If at any point you would like to talk things through informally and in confidence about your arthritis, you are welcome to call our Free Helpline on 0800 520 0520 weekdays 9am – 6pm.

I hope the information given below will be of some help.

    Best wishes,

    Fiona, Helpline Advisor

thank you for your reply, i will be making an appointment with my gp about this. I seem to be always complaining it gets so embarrassing to be complaining all the time, i am not overweight. When you get up out of bed because it hurts so much you wonder where you'r going. i am unable to have nsaid's.

I have checked back it says cervical spondylosis 2013, not sure what the difference is though.
