Pilates?
Hello…I have OA in my back, hips and knees which has curtailed my walking in the dales which I used to enjoy.
I decided to join a Pilates class for beginners yesterday and although quite a lot of the movements were somewhat painful, I really enjoyed it and felt much uplifted. And although I ached afterwards I wasn’t in any worse pain.
However today I am hurting quite a bit in my back and tops of my legs and am worried that I have made things worse rather than better.

You may have overdone it a bit trying to keep up with the “more experienced” members, moderate your movements in class a bit for a while, and build up gradually. I continued my classes for years not realising the state my hip was in, but noted I had very restricted movement in that joint and some movements were painful, so I just push myself so hard on the positions that aggravated it. Sadly when my hip suddenly got really bad I had to give up as it was just too painful, but I really miss it and hope I can get back to it one day.

I go to gentle yoga. I have OA in hips hands knees and spine. I feel great after it but i take it easy. I have looked at pilates and tried online but not in a class. I love going long ( flat) walks aswell but these leave me in pain the next day now. Do you like swimming? I love it, no pain in the water. Although i have heard that breast stroke is not good for lower back pain! It is so annoying that things we like are so hard to do now😭 and im only 50. Xx
