Welcome @Sallyj2m to the Online Community, it’s great to have you here. I see you have already found a fellow member with fibromyalgia already, I’m sure you will be able to help each other.

As well as fibromyalgia you also have OA (osteoarthritis) in your knees and lipodema. It’s hard work being a community career but it is a job that can give loads of satisfaction, it’s good you are able to continue with that.

You should take a look at the fibromyalgia link in Peter's comment above, it gives lots of information, hints and tips. Here is our information about knee OA

Have a good look around and join in wherever you feel comfortable. Ask any questions and generally just make yourself feel at home!

    Take care

Me too. After years of being told it was in my head. 3 weeks later I'm still in shock. The Rheumatology consultant has requested that I look it up on here, where I've not been for ages. Just feel really down and fed up with these never ending constant pains. Got nothing from my gp yet & it's making me feel worse as I've already got inflammatory arthritis & rheumatoud arthritis. How are you doing Chocoholic71?

  • Hi Janet,I have only been diagnosed from January,I was told also it was in my head, went to see consultant and was told it was fibromyalgia.it has been tough there are days I'm good and days I'm not.i have been put on etirocoxib for my pains as my gp said it is hard to treat.but they are helping a bit also taking ibuprofen, but not at same time as etirocoxib.hopefully you will get help from you gp .keep in touch and let me know how you get on .take care ,Elaine.x

Hi I’m new here also just been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia after 3 years of miss diagnosis. They thought I had Giant Cell Arteritis in 2019 so started me on a massive dose of steroids 60mg. It’s taken me till May 2022 to finally get off the steroids. However they have left me with hypertension and steroid induced diabetes both of which I continue to take loads of meds for. Every time I got down to a low dose of prednisolone (steroids) I would be in terrible pain and couldn’t even roll over in bed they put it down to adrenal insufficiency or steroid withdrawal. It appears the steroids were actually masking Fibromyalgia and although I’ve been under the care of a Rheumatologist and pain specialist for 3 years it was a GP returning from maternity leave who suggested fibromyalgia a diagnosis my rheumatologist has since confirmed just before she handed me a leaflet and said ‘good luck’!

I’m on pregabalin 100mg twice a day and cocodomol and anti depressants for the fibromyalgia. I am at lady getting done sleep but it’s not great and I wake in agony unable to move my fingers wrists elbows knees and feet as they turn to lead over night it’s terrible. I’ve read you have good and bad days I only have bad days I’ve just returned to work and I’m finding it excruciating. I have a desk job so I’m lucky in that respect but it’s still hard to concentrate when you’re in constant pain.

Just a quick butt in here to welcome @Vknight to the Online community.

I am so glad you have found us after your lengthy journey getting diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Thank goodness for that GP who put it all together for you.

Hopefully @Chocoholic71 @Jennet are still around and will be along to chat with you as well as other members who have fibromyalgia like @MrMoore.

in the meantime I wonder whether this might be of interest to you:

    and this:

Working can be very good for our mental health as well as essential in order to survive financially, but it can be very tough when you are in pain. Do take a look at this:

I do hope you'll decide to stay and gain from interacting with others who have Fibromyalgia, sharing your own tips and experience as well as hearing theirs. Do take a look around the rest of the Community - the Living With Arthritis category tends to be the most popular.
