Advice on tens please

Hi,

I’ve recently been diagnosed with arthritis and I’m still undergoing investigations but I have been advised to try a tens machine . My problem is I was advised you can wear it all day but when I purchased one it said 20 minutes twice a day which seems pointless , I’ve tried checking online and there’s conflicting information and I’ve also read it can cause damage if you have it set too high . So can anyone with experience offer any guidance ? Maybe I should just try and return it 😕

My wife and I have a TENS machine and use it four or five times throughout the day - it really helps us. As regards the level we usually crank it up until it just begins to get uncomfortable, but I guess every persons tolerance is different.

I have one, use it as often as I wish - sometimes a lot of day- sometimes not for days. I cannot see how you could cause damage as if had to turned up too strong it would be painful and you would not keep doing that

I bought one when my shoulder kept me awake all night , I found the sensation of a tens machine did not make any difference to the pain it just distracted from it . I took it back after a few days trial for a refund.

Oh that’s interesting 🤔 I wonder if I can do that purchased mine from Amazon, It would be good if it doesn’t workout a good option for me. I’m just confused as my pain clinic consultant told I could wear it all day but the packet says twice a day for 20 minutes at a time and when I look online everyone says something different🤨

as I’ve got nerve impingement I worry about over stimulating the nerves 😟

Does anyone know if maybe different machines can be used for different lengths of time or they are all the same?
