Recommendations for beds
Hello,
It’s my first time posting here. My mum has really bad Rheumatoid Arthritis and is struggling to sleep due to pains in her shoulders and arms. She has to wake up my dad several times at night to help her turn, which is affecting my dad, who also suffers from his own medical issues.
Can anyone please recommend some beds / mattresses that would be suitable for her condition?
Also, can the Local Council provide a bed / are there any grants available?
My mum receives PIP and is on a low income. Unfortunately I’m in no financial position to provide a bed for her.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Y

Hello @Yasmin
Welcome to the Versus Arthritis online Community. I read from your post that your Mum is struggling in bed to move and you are wondering whether any help is available and whether any of our members have any advice they can share.
While you're waiting for someone to come along this article is well worth a read. It suggests you ask your council for a 'free needs assessment' which I think might be very useful in your parents' situation, but you could also ask your GP for a referral to Occupational therapy for your Mum:
Versus Arthritis have been running a campaign recently on the subject of aids and adaptations:
I have had a quick search for recent discussions on beds which I thought was a fairly frequent topic and the most recent was 2018:
Best wishes
Ellen.
