    Hi @Netster47

Lovely to meet you and welcome you to the Online Community. I see you are recently diagnosed with Osteoporosis, but are now suffering with knee pain.

We are not medically qualified to diagnose, but some of our members may have had similar experiences and may be able to share that with you.

In the meantime I am attaching two links the first has information about Arthritis of the knee:

    this one is about Osteoporosis:

My OA in my knees feels very similar. Toothache pain is a good description. When I am really in need of thenGO being active I actually write a letter and leave it at the surgery. I did this to ask for X-rays which did confirm I had OA in my knees. This led to a referral to the musculoskeletal clinic which was very useful

Sounds all too familiar I'm afraid. I've always tried to explain RA to friends as having your worst toothache all over your body.

@Netster47 maybe take a leaf out of @nicholaj 's book and leave a letter with the surgery? I know another member sends an email as he is not too mobile.

    Hi @Netster47

I had a lot of trouble initially trying to get a diagnosis/taken seriously by my GP. In the end when it flared up again (of course this was pre-covid) I went with my brother and was referred immediately to Rheumatology.

Sometimes we have to be assertive and for many of us (me included) that does not come naturally.

Phrases like....what tests can I have to find out what is wrong?

or.....can I ask for an X-ray on this knee

can help, but i know it's not easy.

Do give it one more push we are all behind you.

    Take care

    Toni xx

I was diagnosed this month with osteoarthritis. Like you it is the physio I see. Before I was diagnosed with it I was prescribed 200 co codemol and volteral cream. I take paracetamol for the pain at the moment and use the cream when I get very bad and when I go out walking. I do take paracetamol at least 30 minutes before I go out. I don't want to take the co codemol yet.

I went to see about the pain because the pain in my right thigh was unbearable. I have it in my knees, hips and the base of my spine. The phsyio did tell me that if I have any questions (which I do) then I can go and see her. I will make the appointment.

Trying to get to see a doctor at my medical centre is not easy although I did see a doctor in the beginning and she referred me to the physio after checking me out.

can you see a different physio or GP? My arthritis journey started when I went to a private sports physio with knee issues and she wrote to my GP telling them to do bloods which led to a referral to rheumatology.
