New knee soon!

I had a successful hip replacement some 15 years ago and since then I have got osteoarthritis in both knees and fingers. My GP recommended a new knee 3 yrs ago but it was delayed because I was looking after my husband who was on palliative care & dying from prostate cancer.
Now I am on my own and everything is worse. My mobility is so bad, I often fall & getting on my knees to get up is excruciating. I have a Walker & crutches , I am 84 & overweight despite doing my best to loose weight by diet. I follow the exercises on this website to try and strengthen muscles.
I have now decided to see an Orthopaedic Surgeon privately as I can’t delay this any longer. Any advice or suggestions would be very welcome.
