2.5 years and counting...
I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my right hip in October 2019 - just before the pandemic started.
2.5 years later, the only progress that has been made is that I am on a surgeon's 'waiting list' for a hip replacement having discussed resurfacing at length with a specialist in that field.
No idea when I'll get a replacement as I can't get in touch with the surgeon and GP doesn't have 'a magic wand', and I've no idea how long I can keep my seasonal business afloat this summer if I can't actually do the work due to pain and fatigue.
That's the bad news.
The good is that I can manage the pain most days with low-level pain killers, anti-inflammatories and rest (during my quiet season) and my leg isn't about to drop off.
Hi to anyone who reads this. I hope to find a few alternative therapies and strategies amongst the website and community in the coming weeks.

Hello @Karl_B and welcome to the community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that you find that as well.
I understand that you have had osteoarthritis in your hip for about 2.5 years and are still on the waiting list for a replacement. You also asked about alternative therapies. As a start have a look at our website which contains a lot of useful information - I've put a couple of examples below.
Please do keep posting and let us know how you are getting on and I am sure that others will connect and share their support and experience as well.
With very best wishes
Peter
