I was gutted with my diagnosis of arthritis in hips , back and hands. the hands I knew about, but the muscle pain I didn't associate with hip pain. I blamed the menapause and stress for my pain. I was 56 and when I looj back this had been happening for a few years.

I am slowly realising I can't do what I used to and I am adapting....but its hard when you work...I have changed my job twice in the last year!

Some days I can cry with the pain and that us depressing.

Also - what are the side affects for metho?

i have acid reflux so am having trouble finding suitable pain relief

I am looking forward to talking to other people who understand how I feel!

    Hello @rosie159

Welcome to our online community and thank you for asking for our support.

You will notice that I have combined three of your posts into one to make for easier reading - I hope you don't mind.

You tell us that you have been diagnosed with arthritis in your hips, back and hands, although you don't say which kind of arthritis you have - but because you have also asked about methotrexate (mtx) I am assuming that you have a type of inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis etc. You are finding the changes that arthritis brings very challenging especially controlling pain.

Have you discussed the options for controlling you pain with you GP or rheumatologist - there are usually quite a number of options depending on your medical circumstances?

You will find that many of the people who use this online community will be able to understand and identify with the challenges you describe especially when you have arthritis and are working.

This is the Versus Arthritis main page on methotrexate -

And here are some questions and answers about mtx -

Getting a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis is very difficult at the best of times, let alone when you applying for and changing jobs - it is important to look after our emotional wellbeing, this page offers some ideas about how you might do that -

Thank you again for asking for the online community's help - I hope you will visit regularly and let us know how you are doing.

    Very best wishes
