Move to Social Housing / ? private rental Ground floor
I live up 6 concrete flights of lonely stairs No lift ex local authority now owned. I am on top third floor. My GP has said i must apply now for a ground floor eg social housing property. My skeletal and osteo plus rapid deteriorating visual sight loss mean i have to act rapidly and due huge social housing wait lists. Any experiences advice members some social housing with manager seem as costly as a private rental.I am full on researching and also have a dog. Thanks

Hi GalaxyA12
I don't know how old you are but if over 50/55 onwards there are options from housing associations. If you search for over whatever age online it should give you some options. Good luck

Hi @GalaxyA12 ,
Im sorry to hear your struggling so much, have you thought to contact your local MP they can help as can social services a letter from your gp can also help there are schemes like sheltered accommodation for the over 55s Im actually moving myself in 3 weeks to a property that’s better for my needs and near my family but it has taken me 3 years to get here I won’t lie it has been a struggle you can register on my home choice with your local council I don’t know if it’s called that in your area but they all seem to follow suit
good luck and take care
love Jona
