Hi there , I have just been diagnosed with rheumatoid and associated psoriasis. It’s in my wrists, hands and fingers . Knees ,ankles and feet. I am 66 and suddenly I cannot do all the things that I love. Sewing , knitting, gardening ,and playing with the grandchildren. Am on prednisone for a month, then hopefully can get onto methotrexate before I go on long planned trip to Disney in Florida. Certainly couldn’t go as I am .

Hi @Nodules , I’m sorry your diagnosis, and your condition, are making you feel this way. Hopefully once the drug treatments start having an effect and your docs find the medications that work best for you (it can be a bit trial and error), you will be able to get back some degree of your favourite activities. But adjusting can be hard, and you will feel sad about the things you can no longer do as easily as before, or at all. For everything you have to give up, it’s a good idea to find something new that you will enjoy - you may be pleasantly surprised at the new directions this will take you.

meanshile do come on here for a moan or a natter, there’s lots of experienced, friendly and sympathetic people on this forum who are great for getting us through the bad times, and sharing the good news. There’s also lots of really good info in this site regarding your conditions, medications and coping strategies that you may find helpful.

Have had 3 days on prednisone, and swelling already decreased. Can get my shoes on ! Feeling more positive and decided not to start methotrexate until I return from America , will continue on steroids until then . A good decision made, I feel.
