Recovery time for total knee replacement?
First of all Hello I have just joined.
I had a total knee replacement over 4 months ago.
I do the exercises daily, walk 1 mile and use stationary bike 20mins and use chill cuff 2 x day but my knee is still very inflamed and sore. I know it takes a long time to heal fully but I find doing more exercise causes more inflammation and pain.
Am I just being impatient/

Hi @Buttercup9 welcome to the Online Community
I understand you have a recent total knee replacement surgery but are finding doing the exercises quite difficult as they are causing painful inflammation.
Pain caused by bruising from the operation is normal in the first two months, and you'll probably still need to take painkillers at six weeks to help you sleep through the night. You may still have some pain for as long as six months after the operation.
It may take a couple of years for everything to finally sort itself out, but if you are still experiencing pain after this point then it is worth contacting your GP or specialist physiotherapist.
We have some good information on Total Knee Replacement on our web site that you may find helpful:
The Royal College of Surgeons also has useful information on recovery and what to expect after the operation: https://www.rcseng.ac.uk/patient-care/recovering-from-surgery/total-knee-replacement/what-to-expect-after-the-operation/
Many Online Community members have also undergone this procedure and they will be able to tell you their personal experiences.

Best wishes
