Pleased to say have reduced work days from 3 to 2 from next month as tiredness an issue. Did other people feel the same.

Hello @Lindap Nice to meet you.

I see you have recently been diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the neck. I am glad you have been able to get your work reduced from 3 to 2 days.

I am going to attach a couple of links which you might find useful:

The first one has some tips to help with fatigue.

    Hi Lindap

I am 55 years old and was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my lower back a couple of years ago. I worked in an office 9 hours a day 5 days a week. I was in a lot of pain day and night. I had stopped exercising and was in so much pain when I got home from work I did nothing. I felt tired a lot of the time- I think the pain was partially responsible for my tiredness. I eventually got referred to a specialist and had a good conversation with my GP about pain relief. The physios I had tried so far hadn’t helped at all but the specialist back physio made a real difference. I was also taking Cocodamol and Naproxen. I reduced my work days to 3. I now do ballet, tap and stretch class. I walk a lot and cycle. I think the exercise has really helped. I only need painkillers at night most of the time. I take cocodamol and nortriptyline before bed and have a reasonable nights sleep. If I am still in pain later I take naproxen and use heat pads.A 4 inch memory foam topper on my mattress makes me a lot more comfortable. The physio said the more I do in the day the better I will sleep and he was right.

With pain relief and exercise it is trial and error to find what works for you. I tried aerobics but this landed me in pain and in bed for a day. Just keep trying different things til you find what works for you.

    Take care

    Debbie

Thank-you so much debbie. I started nursing then midwifery and lastly health visiting in 1980 so alot of wear and tear on my neck. I am doing pilates and just joined yoga class. Have seen work physio so got some exercises but agree mobilising often the best thing to do. The difficulty with this is tired and would love to rest but cannot get comfy so catch 23. Reassuring to hear how well you are doing fingers crossed I'm getting there with naproxen and codine.
