New to the community, any advice would be appreciated

Hi!

I’m 40 yo and was diagnosed with OA in my hip 5 years ago after suffering with pain for at least a couple of years before diagnosis. I get frequent flare-ups of bursitis in my arthritic hip and just recently received a steroid injection for this. However for the last week or so I’ve had chronic lower back pain along with pain in my hip. I was prescribed Naproxen, which is doing nothing to alleviate the pain and discomfort. Is it possible that my arthritis is contributing to my back pain, and if so does anyone have any recommendations on what I can do?

even simple things are causing pain in my back e.g standing up from sitting position, leaning forward even the slightest amount.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I see you have been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in your hip 5 years ago and have bouts of bursitis in the same hip.

Now you are struggling with back pain as well which your pain medication isn't helping. You query whether your hip pain might be contributing to your back pain. You might well be right if you read this article....the part where it's titled 'How will osteoarthritis of the hip affect me' back pain is listed as a symptom.

Of course it could well be that your back now becoming a problem in it's own right we aren't medically trained so can't help much more. The only way really to be sure is to see your Dr and ask him or her to investigate for you.

I’ve been referred to the hospital to see orthopaedics.

does anyone have any advice on how to alleviate back pain…things that they’ve found that might help
