Has anyone had stem cell/MFAT/PRP treatment at the [xxxx]? I don't want an op., have tried Acupuncture, Pengone, Magnesium Spray. Patches by Better Day. If you are not wealthy is there any Health Trust that might help with the funding of this type of treatment? Has anyone tried Hyaluronic Acid Injections, do they work, what is the cost?

I have Osteoarthritis in my right knee and right hip - Oh lucky me!!

I've made up my mind, that is, if I am able to have Stem Cell treatment, I'd be interested, unfortunately, there is the problem of cost.

If there is anyone who has had any of the above treatments, and has it been successful! it would be good to hear from you. I'm new to VersusArthritis, [ contact me by sending a private message]. It would be good to hear from someone.

sincerely

Rhoda

Within Versus Arthritis we are funding research into STEM Cell treatments to see if it can help - give our Helpline a call to see if they can point you towards relevant information. In the meantime our website contains a lot of hints and tips some of which I hope will be of use. I've put a couple of links in below as a start.

Please do keep posting and I hope that others will connect with you to share their thoughts and experiences as well.

    With very best wishes

I recall @sturge going to USA and spending a fortune on this to no avail. I believe the NHS offers it for post-cancer treatment damage and sometimes for cartilage repair but I don't think they do for arthritis. I believe some have had hyaluronic injections but I don't know if / foŕ how long they helped. Steroid injections help some for up to three months. There is no cure for arthritis. We have to learn to live with it.

  • Hello

I had PRP Injections in my knee (I have Rheumatoid Arthritis) at great cost, not paid for by the NHS as NICE has not approved the procedure - the Injections didn't work, Cortisone Injections will ease the pain but not long-lasting, first Injection brilliant but as explained to me by the Consultant, further Injections do not work as well as the first one and these Cortisone Injections can sometimes do more harm than good.

    Hi FamilynTree,

Thanks for email. Long term my acupuncture injections do work. I keep looking for something that I can use at home, some of the sprays, patches do work. I was aware of Cortisone injections as I had injections in my shoulder, they did work but like you having done my research realised it was best not to have any more.

Thanks for your help, looking forward to hearing from other colleagues at VersusArthritis, there just might be something that I can add to my arsenal of health products to use in my fight against the dreaded pain of Arthritis. I don't take any pills, so there is a lot of searching to do.

    sincerely

Try the exercises that Versus Arthritis recommend. I find them invaluable in keeping muscles strong and supporting which makes joints hurt less.

If you want otc stuff ask your pharmacist for advice. They're good and knowledgeable and will ensure you don't take things which will interact with each other.
