Hello

i am having my first appointment with rheumatology on Thursday and don’t know what to expect! Can anyone give me any advice please? Have had a problem with my hip that has got steadily worse over five years but am quite flexible and mobile so don’t think it is a hip problem. Blood tests all came back negative except the CCP which was over 1000, so doctor has referred me as an emergency appointment (three months ago!). Do have a lot of pain and stiffness especially after doing not a lot.

thanks for any advice or help

First rheumatology appointments can seem daunting, so it’s a good idea to be aware of what will happen and how you can be prepared. There are several posts from people like you who would like to know what to expect - if you type First rheumatology appointment in the search bar on the right hand side of the page, you’ll come up with a list of posts that you might find useful. I’ve linked to a thread below that has lots of different suggestions from members:

If you want to understand a bit more about arthritis, the Versus Arthritis website is a good place to begin your research. The link below goes to an introductory information page on arthritis - causes, symptoms and treatments:
