New diagnosis
Hi my name is Janet and I have just been told the osteoarthritis in my right hip is irreparable so I will need a hip replacement. I also have it in my left hip but not as bad. This has come as a bit of a shock as I am active and only 63. I have joined this group for support and ideas of how to change my life. I have already lost a stone and am trying to lose more. Thank you for listening.

Hi @Jessieboo
Welcome to the online community! I'm sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis- even when people have an idea and are expecting it, it can sometimes come as a shock and feel a but daunting. Well done to you though for starting to think about changing your lifestyle, especially your amazing weight loss so far!
You do need to try and keep active as this will keep your supporting muscles strong around the joint, although be careful and listen to your body.
Here is some information about OA of the hip:
We also have the following about hip pain which could be of some use:
You have made great steps already- I know there will be plenty of people here who will also be able to offer advice and support.
Take care and keep us up to date!
Sarah
