Degenerative disc disease
I got up this morning, not feeling too bad thought I would go shopping for my garden, by time I got back, I was in excruciating pain In middle back area, couldn't hardly walk. Having pain in knee too could it be connected. I could have sat and cried as I wanted to do so much, but pain came on so suddenly. Is this normal. Diagnosed 2 years ago. Not on strong pain medication as I find it hard to cope o them with work.

Hello @Wheelybin64
Welcome to the online community and thank you for joining us.
So you have degenerative disc disease and was diagnosed 2 years ago. You do not take strong medication as you find it interferes with your work. After waking up and feeling quite well you decided to go shopping. By the time you got back you were having extreme pain in the middle area of your back as well as having pain in your knee. You were in so much pain and felt frustrated that you couldn't do what you wanted. The pain came on very quickly and would like to know if this is normal and if the knee pain is connected to your back.
Its sounds like you have had an awful day and I'm sure the majority of us can appreciate what it feels like to be driven to that level of frustration when we're not able to do something we wanted due to increased pain. Sometimes you just need a day where you let it all out and then you some how find that things are more bearable after. Its not a nice feeling though so I can completely understand how frustrated you must have felt. I hope that you are feeling better now.
Below is some information that may be of use to you and does say that one of the ways to alleviate the pain is to lie down. With regards to you knee, I wouldn't like to say whether it is connected and think that you would be better off speaking to your GP to get a medical opinion. I'm sure your fellow members that have the same condition on here will be able to answer your questions through their own experiences.
I really do hope that these are of some help to you. Please do let us know how you are getting on as well as continuing to join in in the community.
Take care
