Hello Fellow Travellers,
I am waiting for two complete knee joint replacements and trying to ready myself for the first of these. I am sure it is the only way to improve my lot now but it took a long time for me to take this step. My current challenge is keeping my mobility as I wait my turn.
My husband was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis 27 years ago and my son was diagnosed with the same condition (aged 10) within 4 years of my husband. Arthritis Care, as it was then, had a local group which supported children and young people as well as their parents. They were brilliant and did a lot to foster a can-do attitude in all of us.
As my own joint health deteriorated I felt I was well prepared. Nevertheless, we never stop learning. I follow developments in research with a keen eye and the Arthritis Reasearch council was a great source of information. I have had Psoriasis myself for almost 50 years and Lofgrens Syndrome, a kind of Sarcoidosis, for almost 30 years.
I've knitted my way through March and enjoyed the camaraderie of working alongside other crafters, some of whom also have Arthritis. I would like to learn from you as a community and perhaps share a little of what our family have found out along the way.
Best wishes to you all
Lynn

Hello @Lynnwithtwohenns
Welcome to the online community and thank you for joining us.
So you are currently waiting for two total knee replacements and are trying to keep your mobility up as much as possible while you wait. You have experience of receiving support from Arthritis Care for many years after your son was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis 4 years after your husband was also diagnosed. You like to keep up with the research aspect of arthritis and are looking forward to being a member of the community.
Its so nice to hear how Arthritis Care made such a positive impact in your families life and that all these years later, you are still taking part in things such as the Knit through March campaign as well as keeping up to date with current research. I completely understand what you mean, when you say we never stop learning, and its so nice to hear that you felt like you were well prepared when your knee joints started to fail you.
I've attached some information on knee replacements below as well as exercising with arthritis as I think they may be of interest to you. However, I fully expect that you will already know most of it but you may find something new in there.
Please do let us know how you are getting on and good luck with your operations. Hopefully you wont have to wait much longer. Please do continue to post and get involved in the community and I look forward to learning more about you.
Take care
