Hello everyone, I was diagnosed with OA in my left hip at the age of 49, was prescribed painkillers and effectively told you go away and come back when I was older. Fast forward to 2019, I was in severe pain, popping pain killers like sweeties and my sister (a radiographer) told me to get a referral to a consultant. I sat in the GP's office and refused to leave till I got one! December 7th 2020 I got a new hip! I was 55, still apparently too young! If you are in pain and your lifestyle is affected you are never too young. Fight for it as your are never told you're too young to be in pain.

Morning, @ClaireS . What an inspirational story to boost the mood. Your perseverance has got you the new hip you wanted after 5 years from your diagnosis of osteoarthritis. I hope that you are now pain free.

I am sure that it would, be of great interest and benefit to other members if you felt a able to post a more detailed history of your experiences.

Good luck and do let us know how you get on.
