Severe hand and back pain.
Hello everyone thanks for having me in your group, was looking for some advice years ago I went to doctors with pain in my wrists and hands but came away with advice to take paracetamol and no help wotsoever and I never went back as I thought something I just had to live with, well now I am in severe pain everyday in my back wrists elbows and fingers so I am going back to doctors this coming week as I can't stand pain any longer and I still have three years before I retire I have been a domestic for the last 26years in same job with heavy cleaning daily so I suppose that is reason my hands are so bad. What I really wanted to ask has anyone had steroid injection in to there hands and felt it helped as if I am not fobbed off again at doctors I was going to see if I could have this done as at the moment iam in so much pain I don't think I could last three weeks never mind three years any advice would be much appreciated thankyou.

Hello @Greenfingers
Welcome to the online community and thank you for joining us. I hope that you will find this a safe and friendly space where you can continue to share.
So some years ago you went to the doctors with pain in your wrists and hands. You were sent away with the advice to use paracetamol. Now you are finding that the pain has increased so much that you are in severe pain everyday in your back, wrists, elbows and fingers. You are wondering if anyone has has a steroid injection directly into the hands and if so, did it help. You are planning on going back to the doctors this week and really do not want to be fobbed again.
I have found the above information on the areas that you have severe pain in and think they may be quite good to read before going for your appointment. With regards to steroid injections, I personally have never had a injection in the areas that concern yourself but have had one in another joint, which I found to be very effective. This is all dependant on person to person as our experiences are varied. I have attached some information below on steroid injections that you may wish to read.
I hope everything goes ok at the doctors and that you get the answers that you want. Do let us know how you are getting on and please do stay involved in the community.
Take care
