I was diagnosed with bilateral hip arthritis (osteoarthritis) last March (2021) and had to give up work in May as the pain in right hand side became unbearable after driving too long, so spent last 10 months doing nothing, also have now developed arthritis in my knees, on top of which I have other medical issues. Ah well "sai la vie" Ian

This is hard to get your head round. It's a shame your GP didn't point you here! I know this is tricky and against our instinct to protect our painful areas but exercise is really what you need. This isn't a marathon, but stretching exercises to help your muscles stretch as they should and then strength exercises so your muscles can protect your joint properly. You could try asking for a referral to physio, or you could do it yourself and there are lots of exercises you can find on here

    I hope that helps
