Prednisolone and weight gain
Hi there,
I am almost at my one year anniversary of starting prednisolone and generally get on ok with it - the good outweighing the bad. I am also slowly tapering so am now below 10mg which feels like a bit of a milestone.
The most challenging thing for me is the weight gain. Whilst I make a point of not weighing myself regularly, I have put on about three stone. My diet is pretty good, I have been veggie for over 40 years and don’t eat too much processed food. My activity levels are low due to a combination of my condition and home working - too many back to back Teams meetings!
I would love a miracle weight loss as I decrease the steroids but am realistic enough to know that it will not be an overnight thing. Does anyone have any helpful advice about what worked for them in similar circumstances? Thanks

Hi @ClaireT
Bad luck getting the weight gain most people do of course, but not everyone keeping salt to a minimum can help some people.
The good new is that for an awful lot of people the weight will honestly start to drop off to an extent as you taper off the steroids so if that carries on you should start to see results.
I'm sure I posted this for someone else yesterday. It is helpful and links you in (at the bottom) to two more useful articles:
Best of luck with it all
Toni xx
