Keeping arthritis at bay
I have had arthritis for many years but have always managed to keep it at a manageable level until May of last year when I tripped over a sunken manhole cover and landed in hospital with complex fractures of the last three ribs on my right hand side, a collapsed lung and then a blood clot. Obviously I had to keep still to repair the ribs but in doing so arthritis really set in in my right hip. Despite exercise (when I could), all the rubs you can buy over the counter, exercises, cod liver oil and turmeric, I now cannot walk without the help of a rollator with constant pain. I am awaiting a replacement hip operation which hopefully will be in a few months time.
I have a dog which I loved taking out every day - he now had to be taken out by a dog walker. `he doesn’t mind but but I miss it. Anyone have any ideas as to what else I can to alleviate the pin, especially at night and how I can compensate not taking my dog out?🐕️

Welcome to the forum, @JPW . I understand that you have managed your arthritis successfully over several years until frustrated by the efforts of a rogue manhole. This led to broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a blood clot. You miss walking your dog and are waiting for a hip replacement.
I wonder if the dog walker could take a video(s) during the walks, at least of any highlights? Here are some links from our website which I hope will prove helpful.
There are many post on the forum dealing with members experiences of hip replacement.
Keep posting and let us know how you get on.
