Pain in left thigh
Hi .I am in excruciating pain in my left thigh..O cannot lift my left leg more than an inch off the floor..so husband having to help me dress etc. I had my hip xrayed & no arthritis there...but I wondered if any other arthritis sufferer had experienced this as GP doesn't know what is causing the pain & I cannot take painkillers (caused ulcers in stomach,).
Once I am upright I can now walk forwards with a little pain..at first I had to drag my left leg...I can go downstairs but not upstairs unless I drag left leg onto step & its v.painful.
I am grateful for any suggestions you can give me.

Hi Polyanna,
Thank you for posting on the Helpline Forum. I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing so much pain but glad that you have consulted your doctor and you have had an X-ray.
If at any point you would like to talk things through informally and in confidence, you are welcome to call our Free Helpline on 0800 520 0520 weekdays 9am – 6pm. We are not medically trained, so can’t offer a diagnosis.
It sounds as if it would be good to go back to your GP to talk things through further, review your medication and explore treatment options. Referral to a physiotherapist and /or specialist may be worth considering.
Posting on our Living with Arthritis forum may generate more responses from people living with similar symptoms and challenges.
I hope you find the information given below of some help.
Best wishes,
Fiona, Helpline Advisor
