Another diagnosis

I wonder if anyone else has had the problems I have had with diagnosis. I have Osteoarthritis which was diagnosed over 30 years ago but I also have had so other many problems with pain and reduced mobility. I was told on numerous times over the years by various consultants that I could have rheumatoid arthritis. The first time was when I was 13 and I am now 76 but each time there has been no indication from blood tests that this is the case. I have been diagnosed with IBS, Asthma, Osteoporosis, Reflux, Dry eyes, glaucoma and now Fybromyalgia. I also have multiple allergies and have an epipen. My worst problem is my eyes and fatigue. I am in constant pain and and the hospital has informed me that there is nothing they can do as the glands in my eyes are permanently damaged and I make no tears at all it was suggested that I may have Sjorgens and I am waiting for a lip biopsy. The drops and ointments do not help and I am now desperate. Sorry for the long diatribe. I would like to know if there is anyone who had similar symptoms and problems with diagnosis. Also have they any suggestions to help. Many thanks

    Good morning @Bionicmum

It is great that you have joined us, it's never a good idea to try to manage alone, not when there are others happy to share their understanding and support, and even good ideas!

I can see you have been under diagnosis for around 30 years, no wonder you are Bionic. I have had diagnoses of RA, then not RA than back again. This began for me 20 years ago. But years ago I realised if I had undiagnosed RA I would have many joint changes, swelling and erosion, and I haven't so I'm sure that's not one of my problems which is good.

I also have sjogren's, daytime is tricky but at night I use a type of vaseline (I get a prescription). You can't use it during the day because you can't see very well, but at night it is great, I don't wake up with my eyes glued together and they are ready to face the day without much pain. I keep my gel in the loo and every time I go in I apply some gel. I also use gum to help with mouth saliva, I couldn't manage the spray and I drink lots.

Here's what we have on fatigue

    and on Sjogrens

Also have a browse around the Living with Arthritis area to see what other members are saying right now. I'm sure you will pick up a tip or two and may even be able to offer some support yourself!

    Take care
