I was very luck to get a new hip at the end of Feb, all went well, but now, when I walk, I can feel pain in it, and at the front, at the start of my groin. I'm frightened to put weight on it, so I'm back to my stick. Is this normal?

I've not had a problem with either of my THRs but I know some on here have. Are you due another follow up appt. with your surgeon or physio? If not, I'd contact one of them to explain your difficulties. I'd also keep on doing my exercises. I hope this will resolve itself easily.

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I have the same problem with my new hip. It hurt from day 1 and still hasn't gone away 14 months later. In my case it's because the psoas muscle has been "irritated" in some way during the surgery, although the surgeon wasn't sure why or how. This is the muscle you use to lift your knee, either standing or lying on your back. Have you noticed the pain is worse when you try doing those movements? If so, you may be the same. It's still fairly early days for you, and it may settle, but definitely mention it to your surgeon when you next speak to/see them.

I'm due for a steroid injection at the end of the month which we hope will help, either temporarily or permanently (I'm hoping for the latter!). If this doesn't, there's a surgical option, but this can result in loss of muscle strength, which I really don't want.
