Medication for Rheumatoid Arthritis
I am 62 and I’ve been taking Sulfasalazine and hydroxychloroquine for over three years now and my consultant has been reluctant to prescribe stronger medication due to me being prone to infections and a previous history of cancer (I’ve been taking a maintenance dose of Cefalexin). As the above meds don’t seem to be bringing my Rheumatoid arthritis fully under control, various nodules and continuing pain and stiffness (I have osteoarthritis as well by the way lucky me!), he now believes we have to consider other treatments.
I would appreciate your views and thoughts based on your personal experiences as to what medications are most likely to be effective and the potential impact on my overall health.
Thanks,
Teresa

Welcome to the forum, @TAG59 .
I see that you have both Rheumatoid and osteoarthritis. Your current medications, sulfasalazine and methotrexate, are no longer as effective as they once were, You seek advice as what other treatments might work.
This really is a discussion that is best had with you consultant. Indeed, the rules of the forum preclude members from offering medical ad vice, though they may say what has worked for them.
