Avascular necrosis

Hi

please can anyone tell me if they have been diagnosed with this condition and what imaging was used. I see my consultant in 5 weeks and want to ask if it is possible I have this condition.

    Nice to meet you. I'm so sorry about your possible diagnosis a very very painful condition.

    My own daughter has AVN as a result of treatment for leukaemia as a child. Chemotherapy of course, but mostly steroids which she had at very high doses (dexamethasone) for years.

    She has it in her left hip and Right shoulder although the latter has now been replaced (aged 19) the former she had core decompression at 18.

    The hip was imaged via an MRI straight away as it's a known rare consequence of cancer treatment in children and young people. The shoulder they hoped was a tear so tried ultrasound first then MRI.
