I am 72, a grandma, and cant lift my grandchildren. I have osteoarthritis in my lower spine, and have had replacements of both knees and both ahoulders, with good results. Now its creeping down to smaller joints less able to replace. One ankle has gradually improved, but this year..I have had a steroid injection in my left thumb base and now my right wrist is very painful with certain movements. (eg managing the kettle, toileting, anything involving rotating the wrist) I'm having to wear a support all the time, though having breaks and trying to exercise each day is very painful and getting worse. I have a sudden click and the joint jumps which is acutely painful +++. This is not explained in any of the booklets and advice I have read. Any ideas??

Hello @RosieP welcome to the online community,

You have OA and have had successful knee and shoulder replacements but now are finding your wrists particularly painful. Using a support helps but certain movements cause acute pain for which you cannot find an explanation. Not being able to pick up your grandchildren is a sadness, which I share and try to compensate with sitting down more at their level to hold conversations and a spontaneous cuddle.

I have attached a few links which you might find helpful

Some of our members use heat pads, TENS, creams which all help to relieve their pain. I hope they will share their experiences with you and pass on their tips about what works for them.

Do browse round the community especially the Living with Arthritis section for a great variety of tips and support.

    Take care
