Painful heel

Has anyone else developed pain in their heel, feels like I am walking on broken glass, any ideas ?

I've had pains in the balls of my heels for the last year or so. It's worse on the inside and bottom of the balls of my heels. I saw a rheumatology podiatrist earlier this year and she prescribed me a set of medical insoles with a built up instep which seemed to work. However I found after a few months that the outside of the soles of my shoes were wearing down - I think it's called oversupination. I've now been advised to stop wearing the insoles and have started wearing gelled heel inserts that seem to be working.
