This is worth a go for fibromyalgia sufferers!
Hi everyone.
This post firstly and foremost is not intended to override any medical advice you have been given, it's simply my story as a non-medical fibromyalgia sufferer. I will try and keep this brief!
I was diagnosed with fibro shortly after I suffered flu and was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 10 years ago. My life was turned upside down trying to cope with symptoms you will all no doubt recognise, like sever fatigue, widespread pain, brain fog and depression plus much more. I was bedbound for several days each month and told that there was no cure!
I have tried most medications and relaxation therapies but to no avail, being left with no hope for a brighter and more normal life in the future.
To cut a long story short I believe I may have cracked it, for me anyway and am so delighted that I felt I had to share my experience to date.
I changed my diet drastically about 4 months ago simply because at 63 years old, I needed to lose some of that stubborn belly fat and I had also finally taken note of that old saying 'You are what you what you eat!'
I have cut out eating bread, pasta, potatoes, added sugar and any additives from my diet. Oh and also reduced my alcohol consumption to a couple of glasses of wine per week. Obviously now and again I do allow myself that essential night out for a non-restrictive meal with friends!
I stick to lots of vegetables, chicken, fish, berries, natural yogurt (not low cal flavoured) and substitute the carbs with roasted butternut squash and couscous. Berries are lower in sugar than other fruits and make a tasty treat at the end of a meal with yogurt. No biscuits, cakes or processed foods now.
I am now virtually symptom free from fibro, having lost a stone in weight and reduced my thyroid medication by 25 micrograms!
This is still at the experimental stage and I haven't worked out as yet whether the improvement in my health is due to a total clean up of my diet or simply cutting out wheat, preservatives, added sugars and salt.
Anyway 4-5 months down the line the fibro symptoms have petty much gone. I'm not saying I'm cured, but I have got my life back and can work, exercise and enjoy myself without suffering the debilitating symptoms I have had to cope with for many years.
I thought this was worth a share as my heart goes out to all other fibromyalgia sufferers who have been given little or no hope for a future recovery.
Good luck everyone.

That's a kind, thoughtful post. I don 't have fibro but, as my old Mum would have said "If t does you no good it'll do you no harm." Well done and I hope things continue to go well.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
