First Specialist Appointment Any Advice Welcome
Have finally after months got my first appointment with a neurologist . My doctor says this is my moment to make sure I get it right else could be another long wait to get treatment. Just wondering how to approach it not really confident around medical things as not used to it. Thinking if am having a decent day am not going to get over how bad I am feeling a lot of the time should I write it all down and hand it over to him . Any advice would be grateful for . I know am probably stressing over nothing sorry for the waffle 🙃

Hi @Coopersmam
I'd definitely write everything you wish to discuss down and give it to the consultant. If you can I'd type it and print it so it's easily readable. As far as content is concerned I'd detail all your symptoms, medication you are on and ask what the future treatment will be. I'd ask that the consultant details any discussion and planned treatment in writing to you. Maybe you could ask in advance if you can take someone with you or at least take notes while you are in discussion with the consultant. My first rheumatology consultant did not follow up consultations with a written account but my new consultant has provided a 4 page synopsis of my first consultation and 3 pages from the second. I've found that invaluable.
