Welcome to the forum, @Potter31 . I see that you have recently been given a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and are waiting to start the initial steroid treatment. In my experience this will give quick relief, but once started on DMARDS, they can take a few months to become fully effective.
The period immediately after initial diagnosis is challenging, not just dealing with your symptoms, but for the people you react with and how they deal with the new circumstances. The forum will provide support from the experiences of those who have preceded you.

Although this is written by someone with Osteoarthritis, in terms of the effect that pain can have it is still relevant.
