Heberden’s Nodes
Hello! I’m a 60 year old female and I have Heberden’s Nodes. They have been steadily getting worse in recent months. They are painful, especially if I accidentally knock them on something. I’m finding it harder to fasten buttons, open bottles and cans, squeeze tubes and do activities like sewing. I’m looking for tips on how to manage my condition (hand exercises perhaps?) and how to avoid damaging my hands any further. I’d also appreciate any advice on useful devices to help with daily activities. Thank you in advance for any thoughts that might help preserve my hands and help them function better!

Hello @Sausage_Fingers
Welcome to the Online Community. I see from your post that you are suffering with pain from Heberden's nodes in your fingers.
Unfortunately many many people here have them and will no doubt sympathise with you.
You say you are struggling with doing things like opening bottles/cans you might benefit from seeing an Occupational therapist
You also said you would be interested in what you can do to help yourself and think you will find this helpful:
Particularly relevant is the section entitled 'Managing Symptoms although the whole article is interesting.
While you are waiting to meet some of our members do please take a look around at some of the other categories Living with Arthritis is by far the most popular.
Best wishes
Ellen.

Have a look here https://www.abilitysuperstore.com/ Lots of other disability stores are available☺ Even Amazon do the popular things like electric jar and can openers.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
