Moderate OA diagnosis
Hi, I need some help please. I have recently been diagnosed with moderate OA which affects my ankles, knees, hips and lower back. I’m finding it difficult to do everyday things especially walking, climbing stairs and getting in and out of my car. I have an active job so on my feet most of the day and I am very overweight (trying to lose weight) and I want to get active but pain is making it hard.
would aids like crutches help with the weight bearing if I want to walk for exercise?
Thank you 🙏

Hi @loopylou
welcome to the community, sorry to hear you are having a lot of pain walking, climbing stairs and getting in and out of the car. When it comes to walking aids it might be worth speaking to your GP first as he may be able to get you a physiotherapy assessment. You might find this article helpful
you might also find our Let's move with Leon exercises useful. I am sure our members will share their ideas too

Hey,
OA is a common issue nowadays; leaving it untreated will lead to Osteoporosis. The problems you mentioned above, like joint pain while moving, walking etc., are the symptoms of OA. I think you passed the first stage. Better you consult a Rheumatology specialist and start your physio exercises as soon as possible. Regular physio exercises for pain relief and following a healthy diet can reduce the impact of pain. Please should avoid alcohol, tobacco and dairy foods.
