Halux Rigidus surgery
I’m a 50 yr old woman with severe osteoarthritis in my big toes and am due to have surgery to fuse them. I am worried about the impact of this procedure.
I’m wondering if anyone in this community has had the surgery and any relevant reflections on its efficacy.
many thanks.

Hello @DillyBaldwin welcome to the online community
You have severe OA in your big toes and are due to have hallux rigidus surgery to fuse them. You are wondering if any members have had a similar experience. I hope that your medical team and physiotherapist will have given you preparation and post operation advice and exercises. As we are all being encouraged to keep our muscles and joints as healthy and mobile as possible I am including some links from the VA website that I hope you will find useful
https://www.versusarthritis.org/about-arthritis/managing-symptoms/footcare-and-footwear/
There are a lot of conversations and activities on the community where members share their concerns and tips for living with arthritis and I hope you will browse round and join in with us. Meanwhile there will be some who have had fusion surgery and will be able to share their experience with you. Do let us know how you get on.
Take care
Poppyjane
