New to Arthritis. Never used a support forum before. Feeling a bit bewildered and adrift. I feel as if this a big thing for me. Will I always be in this much pain or will it improve?

Good morning, @TillyBex and welcome to the forum. I understand that you have recently been given a diagnosis of arthritis, though you do not say what type. This has left you distressed and fearful for the future.

This forum will give you much support. There are many members who can recount the wealth of experience they have acquired over many years. You are not alone.

Her are some links to information to be found on our website:

Keep posting to let us know how you get on and good luck.

    Hi, @TillyBex.

The best advice I was ever given over 40 years with arthritis, is "Don't regret the things yo can no longer do, relish the things you can." Always keep as active as you can. Experince has shown that for those who follow goals in life whether at home or work, find that pain recedes into the background and causes no distress. Those who have little to do ruminate on the pain until it becomes insurmountable, not controlled by drugs or any other treatment.

    Best of luck.

Thank you both. Yes I have OA in the hips. Left being more painful.

It's been ongoing for a few months, but now walking, dressing and stairs have become such challenges I realised it wasn't just a pulled muscle!

I have been referred for a Physio appointment end of October and am hopeful this will teach me correct movement so I am not making it worse.

@CCM yes at the moment I do feel a bit like it's happening to me and that I'm not in control. I need to take back the power and do something that I might not have done otherwise.

I've never been a big one for sharing like this, more a bottle it up and get on with it type. So this in itself is a positive action.

    TillyBex.
